  8. This package includes OptIcon, Icon2c and IconMaker.
  9.  
  10. OptIcon optimizes Workbench icon files for size and speed.  I.e. planes
  11. which are entirely 0 or 1 are modified to use the Image's PlanePick and
  12. PlaneOnOff fields,  trailing 0-planes are removed.
  13.  
  14. OPTICON ALLOWS YOU TO LIMIT THE # OF BITPLANES IN ICON FILES.  YOU MAY
  15. NEED THIS TO CUT OFF ALL BUT THE FIRST <n> PLANES OF THE IMAGES BECAUSE
  16. OF THE PROBLEM WITH COMMODORE'S ICON EDITOR WHICH ALWAYS WRITES 8 BITPLANE
  17. IMAGES !!!

  19. This speeds up Martin Huttenloher's MagicWB icons by a factor of 2-3 !!
  20. A scriptfile to patch a complete directory tree's icon files is included
  21. in this archive.

  23. THIS VERSION OF OPTICON NOW ALSO ALLOWS YOU TO EXPAND YOUR 8 OR MORE COLOR
  24. ICONS FOR THE USE ON A 16 OR MORE COLOR WORKBENCH.

  26. This is important due to the new color system under OS3.x which always
  27. shifts the second 4 colors to the end of the system palette.  Therefore
  28. you might want to adapt an icon's color depth to the actual screenmode
  29. it is used on.

  31. Icon2c generates a highly documented and directly compilable C sourcecode
  32. from an icon image.  If compiled w/ -DTEST option an executable will be
  33. generated which writes back the original icon to disk.
  34. This allows you to modify an icon in detail for your own needs.
  35.  
  36. IconMaker creates icons from IFF/ILBM brushes.  This allows an overview
  37. of your brushes on the Workbench!  (e.g. for DOpus5 brushes, Workbench
  38. patterns, etc.)
  39.
